This 5420-acre park offers something for everyone. It provides excellent habitat for fish (small-mouth bass, rock bass, channel catfish and white suckers). Its banks harbor wood ducks and shore birds. Songbirds, chickadees, finches, bluebirds and woodpeckers, including the pileated, are plentiful. Raptors include red-shouldered and red-tailed hawks and great horned owls. Wild turkeys are numerous and ruffled grouse and woodcock are occasionally seen. Red fox, raccoon, skunk, opossum, muskrat, mink and beaver use the area and both fox and gray squirrels are found in the timbered hills. There is an abundance of white-tailed deer.
Twenty-five miles of hiking, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, and equestrian trails can be found in this beautiful setting.
The rugged beauty of Volga River Recreation Area provides a picturesque setting for camping at 2 campgrounds.
The Albany Equestrian campground has 34 equestrian sites with electricity and hitching posts for each site. There are also 10 non-equestrian sites without electricity for tent campers. There are 2 pit vault toilets in this campground.
The Lakeview campground is a modern campground with a shower building, restrooms and a dump station. There are 41 campsites with most having full hook-ups (electric, water, & sewer). This campground has 12 pull-through sites, 2 buddy sites, and the rest are back-in sites. Reservations are encouraged for this campground because of its popularity.
